Cambodia General Department of Taxation Lighting Project

Government and public buildings require clear, reliable, and maintainable lighting systems for employees, visitors, and service personnel.

This lighting application forms part of a building project associated with Cambodia’s General Department of Taxation under the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The construction-site photograph shows surface-mounted LED linear fixtures arranged continuously along a long interior corridor. The regular layout provides functional illumination, reinforces the direction of travel, and coordinates with exit signs, fire-protection equipment, security devices, and access panels.

Project Overview

Project: General Department of Taxation, Ministry of Economy and Finance
Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Project type: Government and public office building
Main lighting: LED linear fixtures
Application area: Interior corridor and public circulation space
Project stage: Construction-stage lighting installation

Public-Building Corridor Lighting Requirements

Continuous Illumination for Circulation

Long corridors require clear and continuous visibility so that users can identify doors, walls, intersections, and the direction of travel.

The linear fixtures follow the center of the corridor and provide light along the principal route. Their repeated spacing also strengthens the visual direction of the space.

Reducing Significant Brightness Variations

Excessive spacing between corridor fixtures can produce obvious bright and dark areas across floors and walls.

The continuous linear arrangement allows adjacent light distributions to overlap, supporting a more uniform environment and reducing sudden brightness changes as people move through the corridor.

Coordination with Exit and Fire-Safety Systems

Government-building corridors commonly contain exit signs, sprinklers, smoke detectors, alarms, access panels, and service doors.

The lighting layout must avoid obstructing these elements and keep emergency information easy to identify. In the installation shown, the luminaires maintain a clear relationship with the other ceiling-mounted systems.

Supporting Construction and Maintenance

During construction, dependable illumination allows personnel to inspect walls, floors, doors, and building services.

Once the building is occupied, the regular luminaire arrangement also supports routine inspection, cleaning, and maintenance. Appropriate protection, emergency operation, and controls should be selected according to the final project requirements.

The LED Corridor Lighting Solution

Surface-mounted LED linear fixtures are installed in a continuous sequence along the corridor.

This approach helps:

  • Provide continuous illumination in a long, narrow space
  • Reinforce the principal direction of movement
  • Improve the visibility of doors and wall surfaces
  • Coordinate with detectors, sprinklers, and exit signs
  • Create an orderly ceiling layout with regular spacing
  • Simplify inspection and luminaire maintenance
  • Support emergency or occupancy controls where required

Fixture quantity, spacing, and output should be determined according to corridor width, mounting height, surface reflectance, and applicable lighting standards.

Project Result

The construction-stage installation already provides a clear and continuous layer of general illumination along the corridor.

The luminaires create a strong visual axis, helping users identify the direction of travel and the far exit. Light also reaches the side walls and doors, supporting construction inspections and future everyday circulation.

After the floor finishes and remaining interior works are completed, the fixtures will continue to serve as the principal functional lighting for this route.

Why Use LED Linear Fixtures in Government Buildings?

LED linear fixtures are suitable for government offices, public corridors, schools, hospitals, warehouses, and service areas because they can:

  • Follow long circulation routes
  • Provide practical general illumination
  • Use a simple surface-mounted form
  • Be specified with emergency functions
  • Support straightforward maintenance
  • Work with sensors and zoned controls
  • Adapt to corridors of different lengths and widths

Wattage, dimensions, distribution, ingress protection, and emergency configuration should be selected according to the drawings and local requirements.
